Maelight Celebrating 22 Years

You’ve probably seen Maelisa Reed’s work, but you wouldn’t notice it directly. And that’s just the way Maelisa likes it:  she is the owner of Maelight, a commercial lighting firm, and she wants you to notice the focus of her work in all its facets, not the source of illumination.  In Coronado, her work can be seen in the evening on the exteriors of Glorietta Bay Inn’s Mansion. In addition to exterior and interior lighting for restaurants, hotels and retail establishments, her company handles special event lighting and display and holiday décor, including selected private residences.

While her company has been based in San Diego for 22 years, much of Maelisa’s work has been for international clients. For a resort in Aruba, she recently collaborated with an engineer to create a water and light show that took its inspiration from the Bellagio in Las Vegas. In French Polynesia, she has illuminated two resorts in Tahiti and another in Bora Bora.

Maelisa’s expertise in lighting design was honed through six years of study through the IESNA – Illuminating Engineers Society of North America.
